The Lovington Wildcats finished off the District 4-3A race Tuesday night, sweeping Ruidoso in a doubleheader to take second place in the district.

The Wildcats’ 7-1 win in the opening game gave Portales (12-12, 5-3) the district championship.

Lovington (15-11, 4-4) rallied for a 5-4 win in the nightcap, and put the Warriors (8-15, 3-5) in third place.

Portales finishes up its regular season with a 4:30 p.m. Thursday doubleheader at Eunice.
