Zias add ex-Vixen Stinnett

PORTALES — Former Fort Sumner standout Sarah Stinnett has signed a national letter of intent to play women’s basketball next season at Eastern New Mexico University.

The 5-foot-6 guard, who will be a junior has spent the past two seasons under former ENMU men’s coach Earl Diddle at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, where she averaged 10.8 points and more than four rebounds, two assists and one steal per contest.

As a senior at Fort Sumner in 2010-11, she averaged 20.8 points, eight rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game in leading the Vixens to a 27-3 record and Class 1A state championship. Included was a school-record 43-point outing in a 56-55 loss to the Texico Lady Wolverines.

She ended her prep career as the school’s No. 2 all-time scorer with 1,612 points.
