Recapturing teens worth late night

It’s going to be a movie-filled weekend for me, because along with me being determined to see the new Captain America movie this weekend, my boyfriend has decided we’re watching both Hobbit movies back-to-back on Saturday.

And tonight has in store a girls movie night for me and for coworkers Christina Calloway and Lillian Bowe. As much as all three of us regularly and continuously quote the 1990s teen coming-of-age movies, we decided it was time for us to watch them again but as a group this time.

Some of our favorite childhood “classics,” which we have on our movie goal list for the night include the following: • “Can’t Hardly Wait” • “10 Things I Hate About You” • “Never Been Kissed” • “Clueless” • “She’s All That” Each of these movies is hysterical to watch for the sheer teenage stupidity running rampant in them.

A stoner quote from “Can’t Hardly Wait” says it all: “Some people, they say the stars are billions and billions of tons of hot gas. But I think maybe, maybe it's just God's salt. And God's just waiting to eat us.”

We’re probably facing a late night tonight but it will be well worth it to act like teenagers again. Alisa Boswell loves movies and literature and writes for the Portales News-Tribune. Contact her at [email protected] or 356-4481 or on Facebook at Cmi staff-Alisa Boswell.
