Curry County Association of Educational Retirees

Curry County Association of Educational Retirees met at K-Bob’s for its April meeting.

Dianne Davis welcomed members and guests. Dewey Pierce gave the opening prayer. Pam Wallace led pledges to the flags.

David Stidham, registered professional engineer and a retired employee of Excel Energy, gave a presentation that explained the design and construction of the Tres Amigas, LLC, project to begin in 2016.

Minutes and treasurer’s report approved and filed for audit. There was no monthly NMAER Board report.

Benevolence Committee was read by Leslie Scroggins. Delman Shirley submitted a letter that stated funding issues of the ERB.

George Milburn won the door prize. Leslie Scroggins won the second prize, a one-year membership to NMAER.

The Retirement Tea will be May 6 at the CHS Cafeteria from 4 p.m.- 5:15 p.m.

The next meeting is May 6 at 11:30 a.m. at K-Bob’s Restaurant.

Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary

The Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary held its annual awards luncheon in the Cannon Room at PRMC on March 25.

Patricia Mondragon, president, introduced the guests Leann Smith, state president, and her husband Kelly of Raton; Cindy Landerman and Lorraine Weingates of KCLV, and Elaine Adams.

PRMC Administrator Hoyt Scabelund spoke about the auxiliary with how he dreads the day there would be no volunteers anymore. Hoyt said “the volunteers are our angels, the best, and he’s honored to be associated with the auxiliary.”

Leann Smith spoke on the workshops at the upcoming District 3 meeting in Carlsbad in April and the state convention in September.

Patricia Mondragon, president, and Debbie Lasiter, president elect, presented the awards.

Drawings were held for door prizes.
