Shouts and cheers echoed throughout Hangar 4605 as the 27th Special Operations Maintenance Group celebrated its top Airmen March 21 during the Maintenance Professional of the Year banquet at Cannon Air Force Base.

The MPOY banquet is an annual event for the squadrons of the 27 SOMXG. After five months of planning, the event was a great success full of food, fun and applause as the maintainers honored their deserving and hardworking co-workers.

Each applicant was considered carefully for the awards presented that night. 27 SOMXG leaders examined not only how well-rounded each Airman was, but also how well they performed in their respective jobs.

When asked what the key to the vast number of winners’ success was, Master Sgt. Justin Price, 27 SOMXG weapons standardization specialist, an award winner himself, replied that it was the way the 27 SOMXG raised their members.

“Though these are individual awards, no one won this award alone,” said Price. “From supervisors to squadron leadership to the people who work for the winners, they have been taught and held to a certain standard, and this is why the 27 SOMXG creates the best maintainers.”
