Zias fall to No. 12 Rambelles to open LSC Showcase
Angelo State, ranked No. 12 in Division II, got three homers, including a leadoff shot by Morgan Spearman, and extinguished several Zia threats en route to a 7-1 win over Eastern New Mexico Thursday in the first game of the Lone Star Conference Showcase in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Mary Kate McKay allowed one run on eight hits, and stranded eight runners in the complete game victory for the Rambelles (21-7, 6-1 LSC)
Other ASU homers came from leftfielder Darian Dunn, who hit her conference-leading 12th shot in the fifth, and third baseman Tina Cisneros in the seventh.
Rightfielder Kira Sirag singled home catcher Aurelia Sandoval in the sixth inning to plate the lone run for the Zias (7-16, 1-6).
Vanessa Ramirez (1-3) took the loss, with seven earned runs on seven hits with nine walks.
ENMU continues the Showcase today with a 10 a.m. contest against Midwestern State and a 3 p.m. contest with Cameron.
