As Air Force members, a certain dedication to physical fitness is required. One member of the 27th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron is taking dedication to a whole new level.

Staff Sgt. Greg Strauch, 27th SOLRS unit deployment manger, has made it his personal mission to help others achieve their physical fitness goals.

When Strauch joined the Air Force in July of 2007, he weighed 216 pounds. He lost 49 of those pounds in basic training and ten more in technical training school. To keep himself in his new fit frame, Strauch became a frequenter of both the gym and the weight room, where he started down his teaching path by correcting other’s forms while working out.

In 2008, Strauch became a physical training leader and later an advanced physical training instructor, where he assisted those who had trouble passing their PT tests. He has never had someone fail their PT test after coming to him for assistance and says that he likes the feeling this gives him.

“I like being the person who opens the door to others’ fitness lifestyles,” said Strauch.

After being an APTI for four years, Strauch has helped open a lot of doors for his fellow airmen and is continuing on that journey by creating his own gym. The gym is open to all and is a way for Strauch to carry on sharing his love for fitness and the opportunities being a fit person will open up in life.

“Being physically fit means you are able to accomplish anything,” said Strauch.
