Still winning battles with flu bug
It’s been a crazy flu season. I know larger news outlets have reported that but obviously things don’t become real life until it’s happening to you or someone you know.
On top of this area being known to worsen allergies with its dry weather, it seems like nearly everyone I know has gotten a cold or stomach virus within the last month.
People were dropping like flies around me, and if this was a battlefield, I’d be one of the last women standing.
Thinking back to last week, my eyes were fixated on my computer screen when I heard a sneeze on the other side of the office. I quickly turned my head to see the culprit. I heard another cough and then I felt a tingle in my throat.
I reached in my desk armed with vitamins, medicine and disinfectant. When it was Monday, everyone was at work, not well, but present. As the week went on, people were slowly disappearing from the office.
I thought only one thing could explain it, a flu-like zombie apocalypse. By Friday, there were only three of us left, then one of our surviving trio said she needed to go home because she wasn’t feeling well. And then there were two.
If you’re reading this column, it’s clear that I survived or I got sick and recovered during the weekend; spoiler alert, it’s the former.
Nice try flu season, I have too much to do to be sick. Christina- 1, flu- 0.
