Locals appointed to state positions

Stacey Martin of Clovis and Donald Elder III of Portales were recently appointed by the governor to state positions.

Martin has been appointed to the New Mexico Military Base Planning Commission. Martin has served as the president of Western States Insurance Group, Inc. since 1987, and he has served on the Committee of Fifty since 2005.

Elder, an Eastern New Mexico University history professor, has been reappointed to the New Mexico Museum of Space History Commission. Elder has published more than 35 publications and papers in the field, and has received numerous awards and honors for his dedication to teaching, with a career spanning more than 30 years.
