Personal style matures like other things

While flipping through a magazine the other day, I was thinking about how an individual’s style evolves as they get older. The way you look at yourself and the world matures. It is

destined that your style will expand, too.

Friday is the day we get to pull out our jeans for work. I just love a casual day.

This past Friday I threw on a pair of running shoes with my jeans. My top half was my usual business casual but, yep, I wore sneakers.

Now, those who know me, know this is an unlikely duo. I always found sneakers to be homely and a bit tomboyish. But this day, I found the pairing to be quite dainty.

I’m not sure if it’s the bold bright colors that are popular right now that have caught my attention or if there’s some innate desire to start working out and getting into shape, but I have been drawn in.

I have to admit, I did a double take in the mirror to make sure I was OK with the look. Then I thought, “Wow. I am really wearing sneakers to work and I like it.”

I have two pair of sneakers — one pair that I purchased recently and another from about six years ago, which remain in tip-top shape due to my previous lack of interest.

Oddly enough, I find the eclectic mix added to my closet intriguing and fitting to my personality.

I suppose fashion develops just as taste buds develop. A person may acquire a taste for foods they never cared for before as they mature. It’s the same for style.
