Men

Last time out: Both teams played on Wednesday, the Rams beating West Texas A&M 71-59 at San Angelo, Texas, and the Greyhounds topping Texas A&M-Kingsville 82-78 on the road.

Last year: The Hounds beat ASU 76-67 in Portales and 87-81 at San Angelo.

Of note: ENMU has a five-game winning streak against the Rams dating to a 70-68 loss at Greyhound Arena in January 2011. … ASU is seeking its first three-game LSC winning streak since the 2008-09 season. The Rams are off to their best start since the 1993-94 squad also opened 12-3. … Chris Beard became the fifth coach in program history in March, replacing Fred Rike, who coached ASU the last seven years. Beard’s top assistant is Portales High and ENMU grad Cinco Boone, who served under Beard last season at McMurry. … Angelo has one of the better players in the conference in 6-foot-7 senior G/F Kenny Williams, who came with Beard and Boone this year from McMurry. Williams is the team’s only double-figure scorer (18.7 ppg) and its leading rebounder (8.1 rpg). He’s averaging 22 points so far in LSC play, and has six double-doubles. … Angelo State averages 75 ppg overall, but 69 ppg away from home (4-3).

Women

Angelo State (9-6, 3-2 Lone Star Conference) at ENMU (2-1, 4-8)

Last time out: Both teams played on Wednesday, the Rambelles losing at home to West Texas A&M 81-42 while the Zias won at Texas A&M-Kingsville 66-57.

Last year: Angelo State took both games, winning 72-64 in Portales and 54-47 at San Angelo.

Of note: Cayla Petree became the program’s ninth head coach this season. She replaced Sally Brooks, who in 13 years at ASU compiled a 251-128 record with four LSC South titles and three LSC tournament championships. … The Rambelles lead the LSC in scoring defense (56.1 ppg), but only average 58.5 ppg themselves. They’ve scored less than 50 points three times and held their opponents under 50 four times. … ENMU, 3-1 at Greyhound Arena this year, is second in the LSC in free throw shooting (71 percent). … The Rambelles hope to regain the services of 5-11 junior F Hilari Adam today. Adam leads the team in scoring (12.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg), but has missed the last two games with an injury.
