Morgan Foster of San Jon joined the Eastern New Mexico University spirit squad in the fall semester of 2010. She became the team captain this year.

Being the leader of the squad has posed many challenges, but for Foster the biggest challenge was trying to be the best she could be for her teammates.

When she graduates in May, Foster plans on attending graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist.

Why did you choose communicative disorders with a minor in social work ?

I want to help children overcome obstacles that they are facing in speech and life in general. Having a speech disorder can be difficult and hard to accept. I want to help children overcome the challenges and hardships that come with having a speech disorder.

What was your favorite experience while being on the ENMU spirit squad?

Making such amazing friendships with all my teammates. We have our moments, but I know I can always count on them. We definitely have a way of making trips and events on campus fun and entertaining.

Have you always wanted to be a cheerleader?

Yes, I have always wanted to be a cheerleader. I have been cheering since I was 3 years old and I have loved every minute of it. I couldn’t imagine my life without cheerleading.

What is your favorite thing about Portales?

My favorite thing about Portales is that it has that small-town “vibe.” I am from a very small town, so it was an easy transition moving to Portales.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love to go shopping, I love to read (when I have time of course), and I love to spend time with my family and friends.

If you can travel anywhere, where would you go?

I would love to travel North Carolina. I have always been fascinated by it’s small, beach towns.
