Officers conducting warrant roundup

Dozens of state law enforcement officers began an effort Tuesday to search for more than 100 fugitives who have failed to appear on felony cases over the last decade, according to a release from the Ninth Judicial District.

Each person on the search list has been arrested, indicted and released from jail, then later failed to appear in court to answer for their charges, which range from shoplifting to child abuse and sexual assault.

Agencies participating in the sweep include the New Mexico State Police, the New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole Division, Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office, Portales Police Department, Curry County Sheriff's Office, Clovis Police Department, Texico Police Department, and the Ninth Judicial District Attorney's Office. Each absconder may be considered dangerous. Any member of the public with information on the whereabouts of absconders may call Crime Stoppers at 763-7000 or the District Attorney's Office at 769-2246.
