Finalists named in city manager search

Two finalists were named in the search for Portales' new city manager Tuesday night at the Portales City Council meeting.

Roosevelt County Community Development Corp. Director Doug Redmond and Stanley Livengood of San Antonio, Texas, are being considered to replace current city manager Tom Howell, who is retiring at the end of this year.

Portales Mayor Sharon King sits on the city manager search committee along with a few other city councilors and a community member.

King said the search will remain open until the position is filled and the council has not set a target date to announce a decision.

"We're a little flexible since Tom has some time," King said.

Redmond has been in Portales almost 10 months since he accepted his position as RCCDC director.

His background includes experience as a city and county manager for 10 years in his home state of Georgia.

Livengood is the Alamo Area Council of Governments grants development manager.

His background also includes experience as a economic development director and a town administrator in the states of Texas and Virginia.
