No injuries in gunshot incident outside home of former DA

A gunshot was reported outside the residence of former Clovis-Portales District Attorney Randall Harris on Saturday night, police have confirmed.

No injuries were reported and police Capt. Patrick Whitney said the incident "had nothing to do with him (Harris) being a former DA or being a lawyer."

Whitney said "There is an arrest anticipated," in connection with the incident, but "that will come by warrant."

Clovis police call logs show officers responded to a home on Concord Road after a report of shots fired came in at 9:18 p.m. Saturday.

"Information so far reveals a shot ... fired in the air, not at Mr. Harris," Whitney wrote in an e-mail to CNJ.

"The report should be available in the next couple of days. To say any more would be premature with the report not being finished or approved at this time."

Harris did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Harris was 9th Judicial District attorney for 12 years, resigning in 2002.

He has continued to practice law in the area and has represented clients in several high-profile criminal cases.
