Former Cannon sergeant sentenced

A former Air Force sergeant was sentenced to 80 months in federal prison Thursday after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

Christopher Garcia, 34, admitted using his computer to download images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct while stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in December 2011 and January 2012. He was arrested in an undercover sting conducted by Curry County Sheriff's deputies.

Garcia was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release once he completes his prison sentence, according to press release from U.S. Attorney Kenneth Gonzales in Albuquerque.
