Clovis residents appearing on 'Let's Make a Deal'

Clovis residents Jessica and Michael Elsik will appear on the TV show "Let's Make a Deal" on Wednesday.

Jessica said she has watched the show with her husband for four years.

"It was exciting," said Jessica, 29, a project manager with the civil engineering department at Cannon Air Force Base. "You get very involved with (host Wayne) Brady's questions. You're constantly singing and dancing and having a good time."

She described her visit as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She said she especially enjoyed getting an up-close look at how a TV show is put together.

"I was amazed at how much he (Wayne Brady) can actually talk," Jessica said. "He does two shows a day and each show takes a couple hours. He just keeps going. He's just as energetic with the last person as with the first person."

Jessica said the episode they appeared on took about four hours to produce. She declined to discuss any prizes won by her or Michael, citing a show regulation preventing contestants from speaking about prizes.

The Elsiks were visiting the Los Angeles area November when they decided to try to become show contestants.

The one-hour series is hosted by the Emmy Award-winner Brady at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood. Contestants dress in unusual costumes to increase their chances of being selected as a trader.

Jessica dressed as a present with a large bow on her head and Michael dressed as a Christmas tree.

Michael said he has watched the show since he was a child. He said seeing Brady in person was different than he expected.

"I'd do it again," said Michael, 29, a staff sergeant stationed at Cannon AFB. "It was a really fun experience. I didn't have to sing but I danced."
