Press release: Suspect charged in Thursday's fatal stabbing

On Friday, August 17, 2012, the stabbing suspect, identified as 35 year-old Chip Fox of San Luis Obispo, California, was charged with an Open Count of Murder connected with the stabbing death of his acquaintance Kevin Reardon of Valencia, California. The stabbing occurred outside of a home in the 300 Block of Dawn Loop in South Clovis at approximately 10:30 pm on Thursday, August 16, 2012 during a confrontation that erupted between the two men. The two men were staying with an aunt of one of the men on Dawn Loop.

The victim was identified as 35 year old Kevin Reardon of Valencia, California. Mr. Reardon had been transported to Plains Regional Medical Center. He was later transported to a Lubbock, Texas trauma hospital where Mr. Reardon died from his injuries at approximately 5:00 am New Mexico Mountain Standard Time on August 17, 2012.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Detective Unit. The investigation into details surrounding the stabbing event continues with the collection of evidence and interviews.

No other information is available at this time due to the on-going investigation. An update may be provided on Monday. The suspect Chip Fox is being held on Bond at the Curry County Adult Detention Center in Clovis.
