Four athletes have been signed to compete for the Eastern New Mexico University women's cross country and track and field teams, according to a release from the university.
The four athletes, all from New Mexico high schools, include Amber Saiz of Belen, Farrah Hood of Gallup and Hobbs teammates Andrea Whittman and Jherica Rhodes.
n Saiz won a Class 4A championship in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.97.
n Whitman finished fourth in the state cross country meet, with a time of 11:51.
n Hood was a state qualifier, with a personal best of 12:30.02 in the two-mile run.
n Rhodes was a state qualifier in the 800-meter run, with a personal best of 2:23.67.
The cross country teams will open the season Aug. 30 at the Midwestern State University Stampede in Wichita Falls, Texas.
