Judge enters not-guilty plea for murder suspect

The man accused in Clovis' most recent homicide waived bond and reading of the charges against him on Monday morning.

District Judge Donna Mowrer entered a not-guilty plea after Jimmy Reagan stood mute when asked for a plea.

Reagan, 31, remains in custody at Curry County Adult Detention Center, facing 33 charges, including capital murder, in connection with the June 6 slaying of Shondel Lofton in his Clovis home.

screen Monday morning as District Attorney Matt Chandler listens. A

not-guilty plea was entered on Reagan's behalf.

Reagan, whose most recent known residence was in Portales, appeared in court Monday via video from the jail. He appeared with court-appointed defense attorney Brett Carter.

Reagan, who appeared to be handcuffed and wearing an orange, jail-issued jumpsuit, did not speak during the brief bond hearing.

In addition to murder, Reagan is accused of sexually assaulting three women, and threatening to shoot about a dozen in the violent crime spree that lasted less than an hour on Clovis' west side.

District Attorney Matt Chandler said at least 14 people were victims of Reagan's violence that ended with Reagan dropping his firearm when a state police officer pointed a shotgun at Reagan's chest.

Six of the victims attended Monday's court hearing, in addition to two law officers involved in Reagan's arrest, Chandler said.

The homicide was Clovis' second this year.

Chandler said Reagan faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
