"Voyagers of the Titanic: Passengers, Sailors, Shipbuilders, Aristocrats, and the Worlds They Came From" by Richard Davenport-Hines follows the stories of the men, women, and children whose lives intersected on the vessel's fateful last day, from the wealthiest person on board to the ship's middle and third classes who were riveted together by this maritime tragedy.

"The Leopard" by Jo Nesbo is set in Oslo, Norway where Harry Hole returns to the bedside of his dying father and finds himself dealing with a psychopathic serial killer who will put him to the test in both his professional and personal lives as never before.

"The Blood Sugar Solution: The Ultra Healthy Program for Losing Weight, Preventing Disease, and Feeling Great Now" by Mark Hyman presents a scientifically based program for rebalancing insulin and blood sugar levels, and outlines a six-week action plan that gives you the tools to personalize your approach to healing.

"The Complaints" by Ian Rankin introduces Malcolm Fox, a detective in the Internal Affairs Division, whose latest case involving accusations against a promising young officer leads him to another suspect in the department: a dirty cop who is investigating a murder that may involve Malcolm's sister.

"Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family" by Laurie Sandell reveals the stories of the wife and sons of Bernnie Madoff, who swindled thousands of innocent victims in the world's largest Ponzi scheme, and how they learned of and reacted to the revelation of the massive deception.

"The End of the Wasp Season" by Denise Mina blends two mysteries as Detective Inspector Alex Morrow discovers a tangled web of lies behind the murder of a young woman in Glasgow and a swinging rope hundreds of miles away that are linked ultimately to her own home and past.

"Tasting New Mexico: Recipes Celebrating One Hundred Years of Distinctive Home Cooking" by Cheryl Jamison honors the state's culinary legacy with one hundred recipes from throughout the past century that showcase the best of traditional and contemporary cooking from the first crops planted by the Pueblo people to the introduction of new ingredients from across the nation.

Portales Public Library

"Game Over: Jerry Sandusky, Penn State, and the Culture of Silence" by Bill Moushey and Bob Dvorchak.

The scandal that began in Happy Valley isn't so happy. The child-sex-abuse charges against a longtime coach and the conspiracy of silence surrounding the allegations have rocked America and Division 1 college sports.

This book has shocking details of how a culture built around one idolized coach who fails to act in the best interest of the vulnerable. Details about the stories that poured out after the November 6, 2011, arrest of Jerry Sandusky.

"Belles" by Jen Calonita.

Raised on the wrong side of the tracks in North Carolina, Izzie loves her less-than-charmed life. She and her friends work on the boardwalk, her neighbors look out for her, and on the beach a cute surfer-boy comes by every day to teach her board tricks. But things quickly change when her grandmother who is raising her needs to move into a nursing home and a social worker places Izzie with a long-lost uncle and his preppy, privileged family taking her away from everything she's ever known. Unfortunately, this transition isn't as easy as everyone hoped.

"Crafty Chloe" by Kelly DiPucchio with illustrations by Heather Ross.

Chloe is so very crafty-she makes clothes, she draws, she even makes jewelry. But when it comes time for her best friend, Emma's birthday, she wants something that will be perfect! Can a handmade gift ever make the cut? Even if it is very purple?
