Ticket feature: Church holding annual sausage dinner

St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Bovina is holding its annual German sausage dinner 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (CST) Sunday in the Parish Hall.

The St. Ann’s Catholic Church Annual Sausage Dinner has been a tradition in the Bovina area for more than 40 years. The dinner was started in 1969 to raise money to fund church programs.

Since the sausage is so popular, church members must take preorders to make sure enough sausage is made each year. Organizer Jason Schilling predicts this year the church group will make 3,500 pounds of the famous sausage.

Customers can choose between regular, jalapeno, green chile or extra hot sausage.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under six. Take-out plates will be available at no additional charge.

Sausage can be purchased the day of the dinner or by contacting any St. Ann’s member prior to the dinner. They will be serving homemade German sausage, creamed potatoes and gravy, green beans, homemade sauerkraut, cranberry sauce, relish plate, homemade bread, homemade desserts and tea or coffee.
