Three arrested in raid on Portales tire shop

The owner of Victor's Tire Shop and two other men were arrested Tuesday afternoon on drug charges during after police raided his shop on North Chicago Street.

Victor Olguin, 50, of Portales arranged for cocaine to be delivered to his shop Tuesday with the intention to distribute it out of his shop, according to police.

According to a press release from the Region Five Drug Task Force:

  • Agents set up surveillance and waited for the drugs to be delivered. They raided the shop and recovered $51,000 worth of cocaine.
  • An investigation into alleged narcotics trafficking at the shop started about two months ago.
  • Jose Pina, 54, was arrested for delivering the drugs to the tire shop and Jose Ornelas, 36, was arrested for possessing about 4.2 grams of cocaine that was not part of the shipment.
  • The investigation is ongoing.

Bail is set at $100,000 for Olguin and Pina, who are charged with drug trafficking a controlled substance and conspiracy. Ornelas is being held on $51,000 bail.

The tire shop and La Paz restaurant, which is connected to the tire shop, were open late Tuesday afternoon.
