ENMU men take fourth at Frank Phillips rodeo

BORGER, Texas — Sophomore Logan Medlin teamed with West Texas A&M’s R.H. Whitten for second in team roping to help Eastern New Mexico University’s men to a fourth-place finish over the weekend in the Frank Phillips College rodeo at Borger, Texas.

ENMU collected 260 points to trail West Texas College (395), Tarleton State (330) and Ranger College (305).

Medlin and Whitten won the first go and took second in the short go. Sophomore Pecos Thomas and freshman Kortney Cleveland split fifth and sixth in the average after turning in a sixth-place performance in the short go for ENMU.

Junior Christian Pettigrew moved up to second in the short go of steer wrestling after taking ninth in the short go, and split fourth and fifth in the average. Junior Trent Bilberry was fourth in the first go of calf roping.

ENMU’s women were seventh with 65 points. Weatherford College took team honors with 485.

Junior Jessie Kirkes was first in the short go in goat tying, while Cleveland split eighth, ninth and 10th in the first go. Senior Shambrae Williams was fifth in the first go of barrel racing, while freshman Madison Anderson earned seventh in the first go of breakaway roping.

ENMU wraps up its fall season this weekend at Texas Tech.
