Airport hosting restored aircraft

The Clovis Municipal Airport will host a pair of restored World War II bombers Monday through Wednesday.

The aircraft, a B-17 Flying Fortress and a B-25 Mitchell, will be on display at Blue Sky Aviation at the airport, with a noon Monday arrival.

The B-17 and B-25 are nicknamed “Sentimental Journey” and “Maid in the Shade,” respectively.

Tours of “Sentimental Journey” are $5 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and free for children younger than 5.

Flights are available for each craft, starting at $395 for the B-25 and $425 for the B-17 Reservations can be made by calling 602-448-9415 for the B-17, 480-322-5503 for the B-25, or by visiting the respective bombers.

Both planes will be on site from noon-6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

The planes tour through the country as part of a non-profit flying museum and memorial. They will next travel to Midland, Texas.
