Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

My turn: Entertainment of sorts

My new regular daily pastime now consists of learning a little bit more every day about how to run a newsroom.

I’m sure for anyone else watching or for veteran journalists, it would probably be entertaining and somewhat amusing to watch, and as for me, it would definitely fall into the category of adventure, which I suppose is entertainment in a sense.

I have to admit though that reaching an entirely new level of learning in my job has been beneficial and it is fun to know I’m even more capable than I had previously thought.

Some more fun to be had this weekend is the New Mexico Special Olympics Equestrian Games, which are being held this in Clovis.

The Altrusa Home Tour is Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at four Portales Homes. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For information call 309-3483.

The Yam Music Series kicks off Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Yam Theatre in Portales. Constant Halo is the band. Tickets are sold at the door and are only $5.

Also, tickets for the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce quarterly luncheon are available at the chamber for $10 in advance and $12 at the door. It’s a good event for gaining community knowledge and mingling with business owners.
