Press release: 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon to Welcome New Commander July 8

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – There will be a change of command ceremony for the 27th Special Operations Wing July 8 at 9 a.m. on the Cannon Air Force Base flightline.

Col. Albert M. “Buck” Elton II will assume command of the wing, replacing Col. Stephen A. Clark, whose next assignment is as director of plans, programs, requirements and assessments at Air Force Special Operations Command headquarters at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Colonel Elton is a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a command pilot with more than 4,200 flying hours in the C-130E, MC-130H and MC-130E. He has commanded special operations forces at the squadron and expeditionary group levels and most recently served as chief of the AFSOC Strategic Planning Division.
