Ticket feature: String quartet to perform in Clovis

A string quartet with unique twist will perform for Clovis community members Feb. 19.

Brooklyn Rider is described as “adventurous,” with a “hip” contemporary take on classical music, according to promotional material from Clovis Community College’s Cultural Arts Series.

Balancing a devotion to existing quartet literature and creating new works, Brooklyn Rider “deftly employs creative programming and exciting collaborations to illuminate genre-defying music in fresh ways.”

Reviews have described the group as the future of chamber music, enthusiastic and passionate.

The quartet consists of cello played by Eric Jacobsen and three violins, played by Johnny Gandelsman, Colin Jacobsen a Nicholas Cords.

The group plays in concert halls, clubs and other venues from New York to California, listing numerous high-profile performances among its resume.

Audiences are promised a high energy show that recreates the string quartet tradition.
