Press release: Clovis juveniles arrested in connection with Roosevelt County burglary

On 10 January 2011 at approximately 17:53 hours deputies of the Roosevelt County Sheriff's office were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a residence on South Roosevelt road 6 near NM 88. Deputies contacted the victim, who stated he came home and saw a small pickup parked next to his residence. The victim stated the subjects got into a red pickup and sped in the direction of his vehicle which was blocking the driveway. The victim swerved his vehicle out of the way and gave chase. During the chase the victim contacted 911 and Deputies responded to the area to make contact. During the chase the suspects threw property taken from the residential burglary out the window of the vehicle. A short time later and before Deputies arrived the victim lost site of the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, Deputies recovered two stolen firearms from the roadway and a short time later Deputies made contact with two male subjects walking down NM 88 and made contact with them. During the contact it was discovered the subjects were in possession of physical evidence that linked them to the burglary. While conducting a weapons search, Deputies found a .22 cal semi-automatic pistol in the pocket of one of the individuals. Further investigation revealed the two subjects were involved in the burglary and an interview by Sheriffs Office personnel led to confessions and identification of three other juveniles involved in the burglary. As of 20:00 hours 11 January 2011 five juvenile suspects have been identified and detained in Curry county Juvenile Detention Center in connection with the burglary. One of the juveniles was captured by the Curry County Sheriffs Office and all five juveniles reside in Clovis NM.
