Fishtank Ensemble will kickoff the Cultural Arts Series in the new year on Jan. 25 at the Clovis Civic Center.
A “high energy” band, the group’s sound is described as a blend of Romanian, gypsy jazz, Flamenco, Balkan, Turkish and Tango influences.
Since forming in 2005, the band has played in popular Las Angeles clubs, festivals, cultural centers, museums, parades and even streets, according to promotional material.
The band includes two violins, slap bass, musical saw, Flamenco and gypsy jazz guitar, trombone, accordion, and a banjolele coupled with opera, jazz and gypsy vocals.
“Tackling everything from hot French jazz to wild Serbian and Transylvanian gypsy anthems, Flamenco and oddball originals, this dynamic virtuosic and fiery quartet will take you on a musical journey you will never forget,” according to a series brochure.
The Cultural Arts Series is sponsored by Clovis Community College, presenting monthly entertainment events, with the last event planned May 3.
The show is scheduled for 7 p.m., with tickets priced at $15, $12 for children, military and seniors and can be purchased at the CCC Cashiers windows, Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce or the ITT office at Cannon Air Force Base.
