Portales past: Jan. 7, 1942

Jan. 7, 1942: Portales Daily News: Portales' most spectacular fire since 1935 destroyed the Phillips Hotel and Furniture Store this morning. The two-story tile and frame building, just across the street from the fire department, burned for two hours.
