Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Tuesday briefing.
Christmas eve
First Presbyterian Church in Portales has scheduled its annual Community Christmas Eve Service for 11 p.m. Friday.
The service includes special music, readings and traditional Christmas hymns.
And, First Baptist Church is holding a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Friday. Both are open to the public and we’ll be adding more as we are provided the information.
Holiday cooking tip
If a recipe calls for 1 cup sour cream, you may substitute 1 cup cottage cheese blended until smooth with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1/3 cup buttermilk.
Just in time for Christmas
Invite and Airman to Christmas is proving an overwhelming success for the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce.
A notice posted on its website reads: “Due to the overwhelming response to our Invite an Airman to Christmas Day Dinner promotion, we are no longer in need of hosts. Thank you to everyone who have offered to open their homes to our Airmen!”

Today in history
On this day in 1967, the film "The Graduate" opened in New York.
“The Graduate" made household names out of many of its stars.
Though the young stage actor Dustin Hoffman had never been in a movie before, he rocketed to stardom thanks to his brilliant portrayal of the film's protagonist, the aimless Benjamin Braddock.
At the same time, a marginally famous folk-pop duo called Simon & Garfunkel sold millions of records as a result of the film.
