VA to discuss changes to services

The Veterans Admin-istration will hold a series of public meetings announ-cing discontinuation of contract care at nine VA clinics in northern New Mexico.

Nine access point clinics in Embudo, Chama, Coyote, Penasco, Ribera, Roy, Springer, Truchas and Wagon Mound will be closed as of March 31 under the plan.

The VA plans to divert veterans who normally seek care at these facilities to providers in Las Vegas and Espanola. The plans also calls for establishing a VA clinic in Taos and expanding its existing facility in Raton.

The VA will hold six town hall meetings. They will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Leveo Sanchez Lecture Hall Building 17 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Dec. 7 at the American Legion Post 17 in Espanola, Dec. 8 at city hall in Chama, Dec. 9 at Springer High School board room in Springer, Dec. 13 at Penasco High School in Penasco, and Dec. 15 at Kit Carson Electric in Taos.
