Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The 2010 Combined Federal Campaign season is under way, and the goal this year for the base is $120,000.
The campaign continues through Nov. 30 and the primary goal for the base is to inform all airmen and government employees about the CFC and the charities an individual can support.
Squadrons will have CFC representatives who will contact each member of the unit with information about the campaign.
The base surpassed its $90,000 goal last year with a final tally of nearly $120,000. The goal this year reflects the increase in airmen assigned to Cannon, as the 27th Special Operations Wing continues to grow.
The CFC began in 1961 and is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. There are more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the world to help raise millions of dollars each year.
The campaign theme this year is “iCare,” according to Tech. Sgt. Melinda Morris, CFC representative for the base’s wing staff agencies.
“iCare goes with a Dr. Seuss quote, ‘Unless someone likes you cares, a whole awful lot of nothing is going to get better.’ It’s not,” said Morris.
“One thing to keep in mind is that people can go online to the local campaign at http://www.cnnmcfs.org and they can print their pledge from there — one for themselves and the other two for the squadron or group points of contact., she said.
