Thursday morning briefing: Local military operations and a question of debates

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Thursday briefing.

Military operations

A heads-up from Cannon AFB, where they are conducting an Operational Readiness Exercise through Oct. 29.

It means increased activity including sirens or simulated explosions.

Anyone living on or visiting the base should note that traffic delays, closures or limited services.

The area has had a Congressional debate and an attorney general debate.

Vet’s honored

Clovis Community College will host a Veteran’s Fair Nov. 9 in the commons area.

Activities will include posting of the colors by the Clovis High School JROTC and setting of the POW-MIA table by the Cannon Air Force Base honor guard.

Today in history

On this day in 1967, in Washington, D.C. nearly 100,000 people gather to protest the American war effort in Vietnam.

More than 50,000 of the protesters marched to the Pentagon to ask for an end to the conflict.
