PORTALES — Senior forward Emerson Rodrigues scored a hat trick Thursday and the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team got back on the winning track with a 4-0 win over Texas-Permian Basin.
Rodrigues ran his season total to five goals as the Greyhounds (3-1) rebounded from a 1-0 loss on Tuesday at Lubbock Christian.
Freshman striker Andy Wilkinson assisted on two of Rodrigues’ goals, while the other came on a penalty kick late in the half, making it 2-0.
Sophomore midfielder Kal Herbert completed the scoring on an unassisted goal with about 15 minutes left.
Freshman goalkeeper Orlando Rodriguez recorded the shutout, making three saves against the Falcons (0-3).
ENMU returns to action with a 6 p.m. (MDT) matchup against Wayland Baptist on Monday at Plainview, Texas.
