Rush scores hat trick in Zias' 7-1 win

HOBBS — Senior midfielder Calie Rush of Clovis scored the fourth hat trick in the history of the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer program — in a span of just under 19 minutes, no less — and the Zias tied their school record for goals in a match with a 7-1 rout of University of the Southwest on Tuesday.

ENMU (1-1) broke a 1-1 tie with a goal by freshman midfielder Desiree Dominguez about eight minutes into the second half and took off from there.

Rush scored at the 63:39 mark, then added another goal just over two minutes later and a third in the with 82:29 elapsed, making it 6-1.

ENMU dominated the Lady Mustangs (0-3) in shots 49-2 — the second-highest total in the program’s history — and shots on goal 21-1. Britney Wells gave USW a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.
