Curry County Fair features five concerts

Little Joe will take to the Curry County Events Center stage at 9 tonight as one of five concert performances during the Curry County Fair.

Described as “the king of brown sound,” Little Joe has been performing music for more than 40 years and is credited as a pioneer of Tejano music, which blends country blues, rock and traditional norteno sounds.

Jose Maria DeLeon Hernandez, a Temple, Texas, native, performed for the first time in 1955 and is a two-time Grammy winner, recognized in the best Mexican-American Performance category at the 1991 Grammy awards.

With 50 albums produced, Little Joe, “is touring the world, trailblazing, looking forward to new challenges, breaking down cultural and musical barriers and innovating his musical style,” according to his website.

Little Joe’s is one of five concerts scheduled during the fair.

Prior to his show, the band Grupo Vida will play at 8 p.m.

Saturday night, three concerts by country music artists are scheduled:

• Tommy Irvin — 7 p.m.

• Logan Taylor Band — 8 p.m.

• Josh Abbott band — 9 p.m.

Admission to the concerts is included in the price of admission to the fair.
