Clovis offers proposal to Ruidoso racetrack

Clovis has submitted a business proposal to be considered as a possible location should Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino move from Ruidoso.

Chase Gentry, executive director of Clovis Industrial Development Corporation, confirmed late Thursday the proposal was submitted in April.

Mayor Gayla Brumfield said racetrack officials approached Clovis, along with several other communities in the state, in consideration of relocating its operation.

“They contacted us and we did a proposal and I guess we’ll just kind of see what happens,” she said. “They (also) went to Las Cruces and I’m sure they’ve talked to other cities as well.”

Brumfield said the proposal was a standard response often given to businesses looking at the community as a possible location of operations and includes information about what the area can do for them from an economic development standpoint.
