Police blotter — July 8

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around midnight June 26, an officer responded to a call of a robbery at a business in the 1400 block of Norris Street.

A woman said a man came up to her and pushed her as she exited the store, grabbed her wallet and ran to a waiting vehicle.

The woman gave the officer a description of the suspect and the license plate number.

The officer went to the address the vehicle was registered to and found the described car parked in front of the residence.

A man at the home said he was driving and was waiting outside the store for his wife’s cousin when the man ran to the car and told him to drive away. He said on the way home, the man threw something out of the window.

Officers arrested the cousin, noting he fit the description given by the victim.

Around 3 a.m. June 27, officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Lew Wallace Drive for a report of a domestic dispute.

When officers arrived, a man told them his wife was upstairs in bed.

Officers, noting a broken lamp and remote control in the room, spoke to the woman, who said her husband got angry and shoved her out of bed but calmed down after police were called.

The man told officers he did push her out of bed because she threw water on him while he was sleeping and made him angry.

The man was arrested for battery on a household member.

Around 11 a.m. June 28, an officer responded to an undisclosed location for a report of abuse.

A woman said her grandfather was being neglected at a facility where he was supposed to receive medical attention.

She said he had been there three days and his health was deteriorating and was never evaluated by a doctor or nurse, so he was moved to a medical facility in Texas.

The officer checked with adult services, who were already investigating allegations.

The case was listed as active.

About 11 p.m. June 28, an officer responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Martin Street for an abandoned vehicle.

The officer discovered a pickup truck resting on the driver’s side in a field.

The officer surmised the vehicle had driven over a curb and the back tires were spinning excessively, then the driver made a sharp turn and the vehicle rolled.

The officer’s efforts to make contact with the registered owner were unsuccessful.
