Colonial Heritage health care facility may be closing

The future of Colonial Heritage Personal Home Healthcare in Clovis has at least one caregiver wondering what to do now.

Dejon Ruiz said she went to the facility Tuesday to pick up time sheets she uses to log hours spent caring for her nephew and was told the facility was closing and that she would have to find another agency.

A receptionist answering the facility’s phone Tuesday declined to comment and said she was, “Not authorized to discuss that information.”

Ruiz, whose 33-year-old deaf and autistic nephew lives with her, said she receives money from the state through Colonial to help care for him.

“Where do we go from here, what do we do?” she said Tuesday afternoon. “They’re just kind of like leaving us in the dark and I didn’t think that was right.”

Ruiz said the business also manages her nephew’s Medicaid claims and serves as his heath-care provider.

The health-care agency’s receptionist said the owner was not available for comment Tuesday because she was “meeting with her attorneys.”

According to the city clerk’s office, Colonial Heritage Personal Home Healthcare, located on west Seventh Street, is owned by Gina Ghaffari. A message left for Ghaffari was not returned on Tuesday.

Records show Gina Ghaffari is the third owner to hold a business license for the facility in the past year.
