Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The fate of Clovis’ Wendy’s restaurant is unclear.
More than a week ago signs were posted that the business on North Prince and Manana streets was closed for repairs.
However Monday, the phone to the restaurant was disconnected, as was the phone to Lubbock parent company, Diamond D Restaurants Inc.
In a June 17 story in the Plainview Herald, the general manager of Plainview’s Wendy’s said three stores — in Clovis, Lubbock and Plainview — owned by Wade Davenport and Diamond D Restaurants had been sold.
“The district manager told me they were shutting down the stores and that today would be our last day of work,” Patti Mireles was quoted as telling the Herald.
She told the newspaper she was ordered to post signs that said, “Attention: Closing early due to equipment and building repairs until further notice. Thank you.”
Mireles told the Herald her manager said the stores had been sold and would be reopened by the new owner but she was not to tell anyone about the sale and closure.
The business license for Wendy’s lists Davenport and Diamond D Restaurants as owners, according to the Clovis city clerk’s office.
Calls to Davenport and Wendy’s corporate offices were not returned.
