Monday morning briefing: Money to blow and an American icon

Good morning. Welcome to Freedom New Mexico's Monday morning briefing.

Money to blow

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber is raising the money for the annual Fourth of July Smoke on the Water display solely from private donations again this year.

Ditto the Roosevelt County Chamber and its annual Smokin’ Fourth.

But time is running out and funds are still short for both events.

Less than a week to go.

Here are links on how to donate.

Today in history

On this day in 1953, workers at a Chevrolet plant in Flint, Michigan, assembled the first Corvette, a two-seater sports car that would become an American icon.

The first completed production car rolled off the assembly line two days later, one of just 300 Corvettes made that year.
