Ticket feature: Lion's Club, Patriot Outdoors holding annual gun show

File photo A gun show at the Clovis Civic Center Saturday and Sunday is expected to draw up to 2,000 people.

It’s a weekend of guns and knives.

For the sixth year, the Clovis Lions Club, in partnership with Patriot Outdoors, is hosting a gun and knife show.

Traditionally held at the armory, this will be the first year the show is held at the Clovis Civic Center, organizer Dave Barth said.

“It’s a little nicer, a better atmosphere, better parking — it should be a better show,” he said.

Barth said there will be at least 25 vendors with more than 50 tables of guns, knives, ammunition and accessories.

There will also be a snack bar, some western iron work and kettle corn available.

Barth said vendors from throughout the region as well as local gun dealers and others come to sell items at the show.

And Sunday at 3 p.m. a Weatherby 300 will be raffled.

Last year about 1,000 attended, but Barth said he anticipates up to 2,000 this year.

Admission is $5 with children under 12 free with adult admission.

The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Barth said the show is one of two annual fundraisers done by Clovis Lions Club. The proceeds go to help with local civic causes such as dictionaries for third graders, glasses for children in need, local charities and some international Lions Club programs.
