Fires burn near Causey

Roosevelt County firefighters battled three grass fires late Tuesday night.
Ann Clark, Causey Fire Department secretary, said a fire near Causey burned 87 acres and no injuries were reported.
Darrell Chenault, acting fire chief of the Elida Fire Department, said the two fires his department handled were about two acres each, and heavy rain extinguished both before crews arrived.
“We didn’t even have to fight it,” Chenault said.
