Portales past: June 25, 1945

June 25, 1945: Officials estimated 1,500 to 2,000 people attended the weekend rodeo held at an arena about a mile southwest of Portales. Winners included Jack Shaw (calf roping), Cotton Lee (bulldogging), Bug Brown (bull riding) and Bill Hancock (bronc riding).
