June 16, 1955: Sam Douglas of Portales was elected president of the New Mexico Pharmaceutical Association. The group wrapped up its convention in Albuquerque with resolutions urging Gov. John Simms to appoint an advisory committee to assist in the distribution of Salk polio vaccine and applauded a new Welfare Department prescription program.
