Oasis State Park hosting concert

It’s time for music under the stars Saturday with the fifth annual Old Tyme Music Concert at Oasis State Park.

It’s at 7 p.m. and features the Triple L Band and Hanks & Company.

Oasis State Park Manager Jim Whary said the Triple L Band is the featured band and they brought Hanks & Company with them this year.

“The friends (of the park) group was looking for an event to do during the summer time,” Whary said. “They kicked around the idea for a while about having a music concert out here. It is a good time for families to come out just to enjoy some old-time music and have something to do on a Saturday night.”

The event is free, but a $5 park fee applies and camping is available.

The park offers tent and RV sites for camping and the fees vary depending on amenities, said Whary. The stage is going to be set up in the parking lot near the playground.

No alcohol is allowed at the concert.

Friends of Oasis Organization Treasurer Aileen Eastwood said the group had different suggestions when it came to ideas about getting people out to the park.

“Well they play bluegrass and a little western in there, but mostly its bluegrass, gospel,” Eastwood said. “We have a lot of people come and it seems like every year a little more come out, but with the rodeo going on this week in Clovis. I’m sure a lot of people will show up.”
