Clovis native and Public Lands Commissioner Patrick Lyons prevailed Tuesday, sweeping 60 percent of the votes and gaining the Republican nomination for Public Regulations Commissioner, District 2.

With a 13,863 to 9,249 edge, Lyons had a lead of 4,614 votes over opponent Robert Corn.

In the November General Election, Lyons faces Stephanie L. Dubois, who ran unopposed on the Democrat ticket.

“We’ve been fighting the liberalism in Santa Fe for eight years and we’ll continue to do that,” Lyons said. “I just want to thank all the people that helped me and voted for me.”

Lyons, a 1972 Clovis High School graduate, said his platform has always been improving quality of life for New Mexico residents.

“I think we’re going to be working the same platform,” he said. “We’re going to make New Mexico a better place to live and we’re going to continue to do that.”

Lyons led solidly in the eastern part of the state, claiming 77.3 percent of the vote in Curry County, 66.9 percent in Roosevelt County and 59.4 percent in De Baca County.
