Day trip: Museum showcases Billy the Kid memorabilia
Courtesy of Don Sweet The Billy the Kid Museum opened in 1952 in Fort Sumner and exhibits a collection of Billy the Kid memorabilia, items related to the history of Fort Sumner and the surrounding area.
Place: Billy the Kid Museum in Fort Sumner.
Location: The museum is located on the main strip in Fort Sumner at 1435 East Sumner Avenue or 1435 U.S. Highway 84. It is 54 miles to the museum from Cannon Air Force Base and 55 minutes away.
What activities can you do at this location? People can see a collection of historic items from the area such as Billy the Kid’s shotgun, his chaps and spurs, old cars, and view a history of Fort Sumner.
